Hideaway Studio - 1946 Deagan Electric Chimes for Kontakt screenshot
Kontakt | 7.06 MB
Perhaps one of the most influential of the JC Deagan instruments is the orchestral marimba as we know it today.

As well as being synonymous with high quality tuned percussive orchestral instruments, JC Deagan also specialised in musical bell design with exceptional tonal qualities.

For a short period of time JC Deagan produced a series of small electric carillons based on arrays of skilfully tuned chime rods tube amplified by pickup coils and actuated by solenoids and felt dampers. Built circa 1946, it is one of these rare instruments that formed the basis for this sampled offering following the overhaul of the amplifier chassis much in need of new capacitors after nearly 70 years of service.

“Granular Moon” is a work of dedication to explore ever-evolving sounds. One year in the making, it contains a huge number of atmospheres, pads, field recordings and an additional arp section.

All atmospheres and pads are assigned to Mod Wheel and become pulsing sounds, fully editable, synced to your BPM, for the most flexible use as underscore textures.

The real core of "Granular Moon" is the Multis folder, here you will find the whole potential of these evolving sounds.

SzcZ Orchestra Enigmatica v1.02 KONTAKT screenshot
KONTAKT - 1,39 GB
Orchestra Enigmatica is an instrument based on samples from vintage analog "orchestral" synthesizer, Siel Orchestra from 1979 (first version). There are some additional voices created with 1984 Sequential Circuits Six-Track.

The instrument has 16 voices, which can be processed individually by adding filters, effects and modulators and then combined to create new sounds. The samples are fairly detailed to preserve quirks of an ageing synthesizer. Sustained sounds have been looped by hand, without crossfading to preserve the original vibe.

SzcZ Cracklefield v1.3 KONTAKT screenshot
KONTAKT - 454 MB
Cracklefield is an advanced generative sequencer for Kontakt featuring cellular multi-directional and interactive patterns which can create wonderfully unique musical phrases and rhythms.

Cracklefield is a unique, generative music machine, inspired by cellular automatons and early videogames. I wanted a sequencer where sequence elements could interact with each other, creating a dynamically evolving patterns. The sequencer in Cracklefield is using a grid, two-dimensional cellular space called the field.

Rhythmic Robot Audio Panarhythm KONTAKT [FREE] screenshot
27.12.2018 | KONTAKT | 4 MB
PanaRhythm is the result of sampling an odd little preset rhythm box we picked up at a car-boot sale. With only three sounds and a handful of rather tired onboard patterns, we weren’t expecting much from this thing; but it turns out to have a really strong, characterful snare sound to it. (The hats aren’t bad either.)

We’ve spread the snare over a whole octave to give you some pitch variation, and there are randomised round-robins of the sounds to get that analogue uncertainty into the tone. A great little snare machine… for free!

Atom Hub Mechaniano v1.1 KONTAKT [FREE] screenshot
Kontakt, 60mb
Acoustic tones of an old piano mangled together with synth samples and metal objects sampled outside in a town park.

The result is a nice little instrument capable of melancholic, deteriorated sounds reminding untuned piano, marimba, metalophone, or music box. Mechaniano comes handy anytime you need something imperfect, rusty sounding and of a piano nature. Regards to all the steam punk lovers!

Rhythmic Robot Audio Doctor 33 KONTAKT [FREE] screenshot
26.12.2018 | KONTAKT | 17 MB
Doctor 33 is a strange little creation from those funky folk at Boss. Unlike its big brothers, the Doctor 55 and Doctor 110 beatboxes, Doctor 33 isn’t a drum machine – it’s a metronome. Still, it creates a variety of little analogue clicks, blips and ticks which have a fun percussive style of their own; it hosts four combinable onboard rhythms, which we’ve tempo-synced to your host DAW (these include triplets, which can be rather cool); and we’ve grafted on a “Tone” control which actually brings a strongly resonant gritty-sounding filter to bear on the metronome sounds. Sweep this while the rhythms are playing and you can get some odd, engaging effects going, particularly if you layer it over a proper drum beat.

The percussive sounds can be level-adjusted and panned, and played along with the onboard rhythms if you wish. All in all, Doctor 33 is a neat little box for adding some analogue oddness to the background of your beats.

Rhythmic Robot Audio Jacky KONTAKT [FREE] screenshot
26.12.2018 | KONTAKT | 7 MB
Jacky is the result of a small studio disaster: we had bought a fun-looking little transistor organ called the Luxor Jacky with the intention of sampling its sounds and onboard rhythms. Tragically, though, we’d just finished doing the rhythm section when Jacky emitted a spurt of smoke and a sad noise, and that was the end. There was no hope of reviving her. All we were left with were the rhythms we’d managed to record, so… we turned them into a freebie.

Jacky comprises five combinable transistor rhythms with a warm, slightly gritty tonality, plus drive and compression controls to punch them up a bit. Individual drum hits are also mapped out for you to use. These sounds may not hold down a whole track, but they combine well with other sounds and lend a nice vintage vibe.

“Ultra-affordable pocket-money Kontakt instruments utilising samples from a range of classic and vintage hardware synths in a very straightforward common interface… the Grit Filter sounds fabulous.

The ‘intelligent’ controls cross-reference each other to operate a range of behind-the-scenes settings aimed at optimising the character of the sounds. There’s also a similarly intelligent ‘randomise’ button onboard.

Rhythmic Robot Audio PatchVault Taster KONTAKT [FREE] screenshot
24.12.2018 | KONTAKT | 16 MB
PatchVault is an ever-growing collection of patches from the most coveted synths of the past. Taking original, authentic sounds from ancient hardware and wrapping them in a simple but powerful interface, PatchVault makes grabbing that sound a breeze.

The interface is geared towards hands-on, immediate tweakability. It features a neat little Tilt EQ, a powerful 4-pole filter, and can map MIDI velocity to both amplifier and filter cutoff, giving you playable expression that was uncommon on most of the original hardware. There’s Chorus and Tube Saturation to enhance the sound, plus a Limiter to tame over-enthusiastic analogue waves. All the modern additions can be easily switched off, though, if all you want is the original factory patch in its raw state.

Sonus Instruments Eight-Ohh-Tape KONTAKT [FREE] screenshot
14.12.2018 | KONTAKT | 11 MB
Simple. Intuitive. Tape machined 808 Samples have to be.

Manufacturing for Rolands iconic TR-808 began in 1980 and then ceased promptly in 83. Mainly because, well, it was a bit terrible.

At least that was the general consensus. Even Marvin Gaye's Sexual Healing couldn't peak the audio communities interest. Though if we're honest, the audio production community of the early '80s probably didn't pay a great deal of attention to Marvin. But then, Run-DMC. Thanks Run-DMC.

10.12.2018 | SFZ | ABLETON PACK | KONTAKT | 15 MB
The glorious sounds of a vintage Electron Echo Mini Piano in Kontakt 5.6, Ableton Live Sampler, and SFZ formats.

When I was a kid, a bunch of my friends had the same little musical toy. It was about a quarter of an inch thick, about the size of a smartphone; it featured a row of rubbery buttons which, when pressed, would play different notes on a scale. It was, essentially, a tiny, very primitive synthesizer.

It sounds exactly like I remembered: the notes all lasted the same amount of time, and the pitch wasn’t 100% constant.
